Orange County Woman Hit by Train At Orange Metrolink Station – An Orange County woman was hit by a train at the Orange Metrolink Station Thursday evening, June 22, 2017. The Metrolink agency posted a tweet notifying the public of the life-threatening train accident.
The OC woman apparently jumped in front of the train, landing on the train tracks, at approximately 5:45 p.m. next to the Orange Transportation Center at 194 N. Atchison St., said the MetroNet dispatch service.
Orange Police Department Sgt. McMullin said the woman suffered a partially severed limb. The victim was unconscious and was taken by ambulance to the local Trauma Center. She is currently in critical condition, according to the Orange Police Department.
The railroad tracks were shut down to all train traffic for a short period of time, Metrolink said immediately after the train accident. Only a single track reopened at 6:40 p.m.
The specific train that struck the victim was San Bernardino-bound train 812 on the Orange County-Inland Empire Line. The train conductor was aware of the accident, and immediately stopped on the tracks after the collision.
The serious train accident delayed Amtrak trains in the area, and travelers were asked to be patient while the traffic accident authorities investigated and cleaned up the accident.
Orange City Train Accident Lawyer Alexander D Napolin Comments On The Event
The investigation is in the early stage, so authorities are not yet saying if the woman jumped accidentally or on purpose. If the woman survives, she may have a claim for damages against Metrolink, compensating her for her personal injuries. Orange County accident injury attorney Alexander Napolin of The Napolin Law Firm in Orange, California explained that the woman may be able to collect significant monetary damages if the train is found to have been negligent. “Liability needs to be shown before this accident victim could recover personal injury damages at trial,” according to Alexander Napolin.
