DUI Suspect Flees From Orange County Law Enforcement at Speeds in Excess of 100 MPH
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (May 15, 2016) – Apparent Orange County DUI Driver Tries to Evade Police at 100mph – A 19 year old man was arrested in the early morning hours of Sunday on suspicion of DUI after speeding his car up to 100 mph when police signaled for him to pull over.
According to police reports, the teen driver was traveling west on Warner Avenue from Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach when an officer began following him. Shortly after the officer began following the 19 year old driver, he began to accelerate to extremely dangerous speeds. At one point, before he was finally stopped by police, the young man reached a speed of 100 mph. Eventually, the officer was able to get the driver to stop near the intersection of Warner Avenue and Springdale Street.
The name of the driver involved in this high-speed arrest has not been released at this time but he is one of 5 drivers arrested on suspicion of DUI in the area on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Luckily in this case, no one was injured but driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs —especially at such high speeds— is extremely dangerous. Each day in the US 28 people die in auto accidents that involve DUI drivers and in 2014 alone, 1.1 million drivers were arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
