Young Boy Struck By Vehicle and Dies After Horseplay Accident
SIMI VALLEY, CA (MAY 26, 2016) – Young Boy Struck By Vehicle and Dies After Horseplay Accident – A fourth-grade boy was fatally injured in a car accident in Simi Valley Thursday afternoon. The young boy was apparently playing with friends while walking home from school when he fell into the roadway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the fatal car accident took place at around 2:20 pm near Royal Avenue just west of Sinaloa Road. The Madera Elementary School student was on his way home from school and was playing around when he fell into the roadway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Early reports say that the vehicle was traveling at a low speed and the driver did everything possible to avoid hitting the fourth grader but was not able to do so.
Police officers and the Ventura County Fire Department were both called to the scene in order to help the boy, who had suffered major head injuries. He was quickly transported by ambulance to the Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. Unfortunately, the young boy did not survive his injures and later died in the hospital. Police stated that this type of child injury collisions all too often in southern California, which is why both pedestrians and drivers must keep a better lookout when traveling on the road.
