Drunk Driving Crash Results in West Covina Arrest For Endangering Daughter in Vehicle Collision
WEST COVINA, CA (May 11, 2016) – A La Puente man was arrested by police in West Covina late Wednesday night. He crashed his pickup truck into a fire hydrant, causing the vehicle to overturn. The man was allegedly drunk and had his 2 year old daughter in the vehicle at the time of the drunk driving crash.
West Covina Police report that the 2 year old girl suffered minor injuries when the collision took place near Fracisquito Avenue and Tonopah Avenue at around 10:24 pm Wednesday night. The 1986 Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Francisquito Avenue when the driver lost control and crashed into the fire hydrant. It appears as thought the driver told police that he may have fallen asleep at the wheel while driving anywhere from 35 to 40 mph.
The injured toddler was taken to the hospital after suffering minor head and chest injuries. The 27 year old driver was also taken to a nearby hospital to be checked for injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment charges. He is currently being held at the West Covina jail with a $100,000 bond.
