Car Crashes into Home Injuring 4 Year Old Whittier Boy
WHITTIER, CA (May 5, 2016) – In the earlier hours of Thursday morning, a car crashed into a home in the Los Angeles County community of South Whittier. The car crashed directly into a bedroom where a young boy, age 4, was sleeping and a teenager was playing video games. California State Patrol was called to the scene in search of the hit-and-run driver. According to reports, the car crashed into the home located at the 12400 block of South Ramsey Drive, which sits adjacent to the Imperial Highway and Marquardt Avenue intersection, at around 12:15 am.
The homeowner was sleeping down the hallway at the time of impact and recalls hearing a “tremendous crash”. Awakened by the crash, owner David Mazon ran down the hallway to check on his 4 year old grandson and 18 year old son. He then found his son trying to free the 4 year old, whose leg was trapped under the car. Once police arrived on the scene they were able to help lift the vehicle so the boy could be taken to the hospital. Both boys were treated for minor injuries and released Thursday morning.
California Highway Patrol reported that the hit-and-run driver of the Nissan 350Z and a passenger fled the scene of the crash on foot. As of Thursday morning, police are still looking to make an arrest.
