Semi Truck Crashes into Toyota on I-5 Northbound
Big Rig Collides with Toyota Automobile on the 5 Freeway in San Clemente CA
SAN CLEMENTE, CA (May 15, 2016) – Semi Truck Crashes into Toyota on I-5 Northbound – In the early hours of Sunday morning a Vons semi truck and a red Toyota Tundra were involved in a collision that left road crews cleaning up for several hours. The semi truck crash took place on northbound I-5 near the Avenida Vista Hermosa exit in the Orange County city of San Clemente, just north of San Clemente High School.
Ambulance services were called to the scene of the crash to treat multiple injuries and those with moderate injuries were rushed to a local hospital for additional treatment. According to California highway Patrol, the crash took place around 1:10 am on Sunday morning. A SigAlert was issued to keep several northbound lanes closed for investigators. Additional reports indicate that three lanes of traffic were shut down until about 3:00 am so that road crews could clear debris from the roadway.
At this time, California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash. However, truck accidents that occur in the early morning hours are often caused due to distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and aggressive driving. Even the safest drivers can make a mistake and cause an accident on the road if they are distracted or driving while drowsy.
