38 Year Old Pomona Pedestrian Struck By An Automobile In Pomona Has Passed Away From Fatal Injuries
Pomona Woman Struck By Auto Passes Away From Injuries – Jessica Alvarez, 38 years old, who was the pedestrian victim struck by an automobile in Pomona on July 20, 2017, passed away from her injuries she sustained in the pedestrian vs. automobile car accident, according to the Pomona Police Department.
Alvarez was from Pomona, and was walking at Bonita Avenue and Melbourne Avenue at 7 p.m. on July 20th. She was knocked unconscious from the impact, and was transported by ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital in critical condition. She clung to life until July 27th at about 3:25 p.m., according to the Pomona Police Department.
The driver of the vehicle was driving westbound on Bonita Avenue, and he was turning right on Melbourne Avenue, when the setting sun allegedly blinded him from seeing the female pedestrian crossing the street on Bonita Avenue. He struck the woman, who was walking with her back to him.
Alvarez was severely injured and was non-responsive. The driver rendered aid until firefighters from right next store rushed to the scene. Paramedics immediately transported Alvarez to PVHMC. The driver has not been identified, and he remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with traffic accident investigators. The Pomona Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the pedestrian fatal car accident.
